Daily Learning Rhythm

At Willow Haven Elderly Learning Program, our daily rhythm is thoughtfully designed to balance calm focus, creative exploration, movement, nourishment, and rest. Each part of the day flows naturally into the next, creating a secure, predictable, and enriching experience for every child.

Morning Arrival & Gentle Transition

7:30 AM – 8:15 AM

Children are welcomed into a serene and thoughtfully prepared environment. Mornings begin with calm, individualized transitions, allowing each child to settle comfortably. During this time, children engage in quiet, self-directed activities such as puzzles, books, building materials, and Montessori-inspired learning invitations. Educators provide gentle guidance and individualized attention to support a peaceful start to the day.

Morning Snack & Community Care

8:15 AM – 8: 45AM

A wholesome morning snack is served in a family-style setting. Children are encouraged to participate in setting the table and tidying up, cultivating responsibility, independence, and grace. This shared moment fosters social connection and mindful eating.

Circle Time & Learning Activities

8:45am - 9:15AM

Songs, stories, counting, letters and emotional & social skills development.

Enrichment & Intentional Learning experiences

9:15 AM – 10:15 AM

Each day features a curated enrichment experience designed to support holistic development:

  • Monday: Music & Expressive Movement

  • Tuesday: Yoga & Science Exploration

  • Wednesday: Art Studio & Pottery Exploration

  • Thursday: Gardening & Nature Studies

  • Friday: Sensory Art & Baking

These experiences encourage creativity, emotional expression, physical awareness, and curiosity.

Outdoor Play & Nature Exploration

10:15 AM – 11:15 AM

Children spend extended time outdoors engaging in free play and guided exploration. Activities may include backyard play, nature walks, park visits, library outings, or observing seasonal changes in the natural environment. Outdoor experiences are an essential part of our philosophy, supporting physical development and environmental awareness.

Lunch & Social Connection

11:15 AM – 11:45 AM

Lunch is enjoyed in a calm, communal setting. Children practice independence through age-appropriate self-serving and table manners while engaging in meaningful conversation. This time reinforces social confidence, respect, and a healthy relationship with food.

Rest & Quiet Time

11:45 AM – 2:00 PM

The afternoon begins with a restorative rest period. Soft lighting, calming music, and a tranquil atmosphere allow children to rest or sleep comfortably. Children who do not sleep engage in quiet, reflective activities such as books, puzzles, or soft sensory materials

Gentle Wake-Up & Afternoon Nourishment

2:00 PM – 2:30 PM

Children transition gently from rest with toileting or diaper changes, followed by a light afternoon snack to replenish energy and support focus for the remainder of the day.

Creative Exploration & Project Time

2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

This time is dedicated to open-ended, child-led exploration. Inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophy, children engage in creative projects, imaginative play, building, storytelling, music, and artistic expression. Educator thoughtfully observe and extend learning based on each child’s interests.

Outdoor Movement & Physical Play

3:30 PM – 4:15 PM

Children return outdoors for active movement and play. Activities may include water play, climbing, sand exploration, and gross motor challenges that support strength, coordination, and confidence.

Wind-Down & Pick-Up Window

4:15 PM – 5:30 PM

The day ends with a calm wind-down period. Children engage in relaxed play while educator prepares daily updates and documentation for families. Pick-up occurs in a warm, unhurried environment, allowing for meaningful communication between educators and parents.
